Background

Solomon’s research focuses on mobile and context-aware computing, smart learning environments, pervasive and interactive systems. He applies computer science principles and methods to build and evaluate smart technology and games to support education, health and wellbeing. He has received a number of research funding including the competitive EU-LAC Horizon Europe, EU-Erasmus+, EU-Erasmus Joint Masters Degree, JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship in Japan, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Postdoctoral Fellowship in Finland. He is a Certified Teacher in Finland, and has several years of teaching and research experience in the UK, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Nigeria. 

He was the programme coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme in Green Networking and Cloud Computing, and project coordinator of the EU-LAC project titled Smart Ecosystem for Learning and Inclusion (SELI).

Solomon is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Exeter, UK, an Adjunct Professor (Docent) at the University of Eastern Finland, Visiting Professor at University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and an Associate Professor of pervasive and mobile computing at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. 

He received his PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Eastern Finland; MSc degree in Research in Computer and Systems Engineering from Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany; and B. Tech (Hons) degree in Computer Science from Federal University of Technology Yola, Nigeria. 

Solomon is the initiator and founder of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (CEMRI).
